Designed for high-achieving students who are looking to have a successful career in a variety of healthcare fields including medicine, veterinary science, pharmacy and dentistry, we have designed a specific pathway programme.
All students must study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Maths and have outstanding academic and teacher feedback.
In addition to their academic subjects students who take part in the programme benefit from:
- Overview of medicine-related degrees
- Requirements of becoming a doctor
- Introduction to The National Health Service
- Improving Medical vocabulary
- Mock interview and MMI preparation
- BMAT and UCAT preparation and masterclasses
- Discussion of key questions for interview
- Five hours of tutor sessions
- Membership of the Medics Society with other students at St Andrew’s aiming for medicine
The dedicated tutor, alongside our Dukes partners, The Medic Portal and InvestIN, will support students throughout their A-Level course and prepare them fully for the path to medicine. The support includes:
- Choosing their degree and completing their application
- Personal statement development
- Preparation for exams
- Interview preparation and organising mock MMI interviews

- Working with InvestIN, our work experience partner, to enrol students in medicine summer work experience
- Attending medical seminars and arranging visits
- Access to one of InvestIN’s weekend career experience workshops (Sunday’s during term time)
